A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two boys who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the facility in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor stated objects including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated the defendant went on to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member contacted the police once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
